A(eon)F Valyri is another creative force whose work I admire and study, but what makes this album most special amongst her hundreds of albums is just how gentle and comfortingly-cinematic “home, for the first time” is to get lost in. There is a knowable quality to this music, portals created by allowing the noise of everyday life into the mix, sitting with the same degree of intentionality as the rest of the orchestra and choir, leading us from one “room” to another in this “home”. Favorite track: B1 - improvisation for two voices (one on the deepmind and one on the person).

the entirety of this album was made within a week of moving into an apartment with my significant other.

possibly for the first time in my life i actually feel like everything is going to go well. Things are actually turning out okay, after being able to do little beyond repeating that they might someday be for years.

Music From is comprised of three pieces of music by three separate artists (Outgrower, PMJJ and The Zion Curtain), yet the half hour that passes from note one of track one to the end of track three moves is a cohesive aural experience, even though there are many moods covered in the time allotted. A near-uniform track length (each artist offers up ten minutes) certainly augments that cohesion, as does a sort of two-part song structure. A(eon)F
